It is hard to have a bad time when seeing Sammy Hagar. Clearly a guy who was born to be a rock star, his ear-to-ear smile and upbeat spirit is infectious. In playing tunes from throughout his career, including his solo career, Montrose, Van Halen, and Chickenfoot, Hagar brought the good times and party to Alpharetta GA’s Ameris Bank Ampitheatre.
Leaning in to tunes from his era (“Van Hagar”) as well as before he was in the band, the set was mostly Van Halen but really sprinkled in many different pieces of Hagar’s career. As he sang, he signed autographs and poured drinks for fans in the front row. This guy embodies a true, good timing rock star (and no doubt a hell of a business man). With original Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony providing some vocals alongsidge shred savant Joe Satriani and rock lineage royalty on drums (Jason Bonham), the night was truly satisfying with some highlights including “Best of Both Worlds”, “Heavy Metal”, and “Good Enough”. Never stop doing your thing, Hagar.
