CLOUDCHORD dropped a fresh remix of Matoma’s “Running Out” yesterday with some very strong tropical vibes. “It wasn’t something I was planning on doing. I was out on tour a couple weeks ago, and one day the vocal melody got stuck in my head,” Derek (aka CLOUDCHORD) told Live Music Daily. We also asked him he feels the finished product came out: “Most musical genres end up being a parody of themselves once they hit critical mass. Tropical house tends to be too cheesy and safe when that happens. I want to continue to give this style the shot in the arm in needs to survive.”
Needless to say this one does have the tropical vibes, but CLOUDCHORD packs some extra punch to keep it fresh.
About Cloudchord:
CLOUDCHORD brings a refreshing vision of live electronica to the dance floor. In early 2016, he won the Of Monsters and Men Remix contest, rose to #1 on Hype Machine with three consecutive remixes, and received support from Pete Tong via iHeart Radio. Needless to say, the trajectory of Cloudchord (aka Derek VanScoten) is something to be witnessed. He’s tirelessly building a fusion of disco, deep house, and downtempo with live guitar. Cloudchord’s music was also prominent feature in the Sundance selection “In Football We Trust,” and in a handful of commercials on NBC during the Fall of 2015.
