Listen Now – Live Music Daily Choice Cuts Vol.2

Curated by Brady Cooling

Middle Brother– Middle Brother is an indie/folk “super-group” as much as I hate that word; consisting of: John J. McCauley III of Deer Tick, Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, and Matt Vasquez of Delta Spirit. These guys haven’t played many dates since their first show in 2009 and self-titled album release in 2011, but they are one to get excited for!

We Lost the Sea– Departure Songs is an album I found completely random from suggested selections on Youtube that I really dig. They are an Australian group who is touring currently off this album that combine instrumental melodies, dark tones, and really trippy samples and electronic stylings into this work. Definitely one to listen to all the way through while chilling at home.

My Morning Jacket– “Spring (Among the Living)” off their newest 2015 release “The Waterfall” is my personal favorite being a huge fan of theirs. Echoes of Jim James emerge from a very quick and choppy musical arrangement into a deeper and darker feelings in which you can imagine the lyrics coming alive with many tempo and instrumental changes.

Joey Bada$$– “Funky Ho”- This electrifying 21 year old performer who is involved with Flatbush Zombies, Pro-Era, The Underachievers has been tearing up the festival circuit at such a young age. Funky Ho has an insanely catchy chorus, flow and lyrics. You will see why Joey is my favorite hip-hop artist at the time!

Damien Jurado– “Ohio”- This is a nod to my best friend Logan, who’s favorite artist is Damien it tells a fictional story of a girl he knew who moved to Ohio. It is a very emotional with a wide range of emotions and a folky-Americana inspired story of Ohio that will make anyone from the Buckeye State here at home.

Wavves– “King of the Beach”- One of my favorite artists in this era who has been involved with Best Coast and FIDLAR this San Diego, CA based group brings the best moods of summer with a punk-rock and surf feeling. Perfect for the start of summer starting soon!

Morning Teleportation – Expanding Anyways- Easily one of the coolest and tripped out music videos you will ever watch, truly an expansion of everything instantly like the title says. This Bowling Green, KY group has a unique take on a psychedelic exploration of sounds with lots of fast and slow movement in the song structure. Dig it!
