STS9 Commences Liftoff in the DMV for Halloween (Photos & Mini-Recap)

Halloween night in every city across the country consists of any number of parties and chances to show off your best costume. But here at Live Music Daily, the only Halloween parties that matter are the ones that have great music to fuel the festivities. Here in the DC area, it couldn’t get much better than STS9 at the Fillmore Silver Spring.

Coming off a fantastic summer that found the revitalized band and their new bassist Alana Rocklin firing on all cylinders, this Halloween party was set up to be a highlight show of the tour. The band wasted no time digging deep into their catalogue opening up with the huge bustout “HB Walks to School.” In a show full of highlights, this would surely set the tone for the rest of the evening.

The capacity crowd at the Fillmore was electric and it was clear that everyone was there to get down, it’s always a treat to see the crowd moving as a singular unit. As far as tricks go the band had plenty up their sleeves, and they would use the setlist to spell out “Happy Halloween DC.”

Huge bustouts, blissed out drum and bass jams, and a double encore. Anybody who’s a Tribe fan really couldn’t ask for much more from these guys. It was a dance party start to finish, and when the first encore ended and the band came back out to play “World Go Round,” I can’t imagine that anyone in the room left unsatisfied. I was lucky enough to be in the crowd for this show and had an absolute blast with some close friends. The costumes were clever, the vibes were good, and the music was phenomenal. Really can’t ask for much more from a Halloween STS9 dance party. I highly recommend anyone in the DC area to consider making the trip down 95 to Richmond this Sunday. If Saturday night was any indication, the National is in for a blazing show.
