The annual magic on the Rockcastle weekend (aka The Moonshiners Ball) was a special kind of something this year.

Bela’ Fleck‘s My Bluegrass Heart (read that again) … one word, amazing.

Fruition, they may be putting the band on the shelf after almost 2 decades of touring but they’re making sure fans (new and old) get the high energy experience thats made them a favorite for so many for so long.

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong lit up the stage and the crowd, a perfect Saturday night (drummer Alex Petropulos literally put on a clinic!) and northern California’s Boot Juice brought their tour to the “east” coast for the first time, pretty sure it won’t be their last.

One of the many draws for the Moonshiners Ball is the focus on regional talent and they have such a broad base of exceptional talent (truly an embarrassment of riches) … Magnolia Boulevard, Mama Said String Band, Cam Clark & His Orchestra, The Local Honey’s, Jordan Smart to name a few.

Until next year!
