Band of the Week
Fly Golden Eagle is one of the top rising Rock N’ Roll based acts on the live music scene. The group successfully incorporates the elements we love from the music of the 60s and 70s, while maintaining their own distinct identity.
Charles Cardinal takes a look at their “Steeping Stone” music video.
Fly Golden Eagle’s “Stepping Stone” is a testament to the enduring nature of psychedelic blues-rock. True to the genre’s core, powerful drums, exceptional organ work, rhythmic guitar, and gravelly vocals drive the song. Despite its heavy sound, Fly Golden Eagle is still able to incorporate the subtle ramblings of tambourine throughout “Stepping Stone” that offers a unique element some basic blues-rock bands lack.
On a symbolic/meta level, the black and white colored music video filmed from a camera rotating around the band reinforces their timeless sound by blurring the lines of certainty as to what era their music comes from and belongs to. Similar to the circular moving camera on the tracks around them, Fly Golden Eagle is simultaneously moving backwards and forwards to create a sound that is both reminiscent of the past as well as uniquely modern. Much like the name of the song itself, this group functions as a musical stepping-stone somewhere between psychedelic blues-rock’s former glory and its ambiguous future. Lucky for us, Fly Golden Eagle is available now in the present.
