Dumpstaphunk Announces Nikki Glaspie’s Final Tour Dates;
Gears Up for Hot Summer Festivals, Including Gathering of the Vibes This Weekend
NEW ORLEANS, LA (Thursday, July 31, 2014): As Dumpstaphunk prepares for a blistering finale to their Summer 2014 tour schedule, the iconic New Orleans funk band announces the amicable departure of drummer Nikki Glaspie.
Glaspie, who joined Dumpstaphunk in 2011 and recorded on the group’s 2013 studio album, Dirty Word, has decided to tour full time with her new project, The Nth Power.
“We love Nikki and wish her nothing but the best moving forward. We’ve shared many amazing shows together, along with an album we’re all very proud of. No doubt we’ll be seeing each other down the road. In the mean time, we reached out to our extended family of New Orleans musicians and can confirm that Alvin Ford Jr. will join us on tour starting August 23 in Park City, UT.”

Glaspie will round out her tenure with Dumpstaphunk Thursday, July 31 at Party in the Park in Rochester, NY; Friday, Aug. 1 at Flood City Music Festival in Johnstown, PA; and Saturday, Aug. 2 at Gathering of the Vibes in Bridgeport, CT — where she poignantly made her festival debut with Dumpstaphunk three years ago — before her final performance with the group Friday, Aug. 22 at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC with Rebirth Brass Band.
Without skipping a beat, Dumpstaphunk brings the Big Easy funk out West with Ford behind the kit, performing in Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Montana and Washington through the rest of August. They finish Labor Day Weekend as part of the Dave Matthew’s Band Caravan at the Gorge on Sunday, Aug. 31 in Quincy, WA, before a string of late summer festivals, including Lock’n and Telluride Blues & Brews in September.
