Weezer brought their Gathering Tour to Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum, delivering a career-spanning celebration of alternative rock that reminded fans just how many unforgettable songs Rivers Cuomo and company have accumulated over the past three decades. From early classics like “Surf Wax America” to fan favorites like “Hash Pipe,” “The Good Life,” and “Beverly Hills,” the band balanced deep cuts with the massive singalongs that helped define an entire generation. Songs like “Across the Sea,” “Pink Triangle,” and “El Scorcho” gave longtime fans plenty to celebrate, while anthems including “Undone – The Sweater Song,” “Say It Ain’t So,” “Buddy Holly,” and “Island in the Sun” showcased Weezer’s seemingly endless catalog of infectious guitar-driven rock. Few bands can make an arena feel like a nostalgic garage-rock party quite like Weezer.
Joining the bill were indie rock favorites The Shins, led by singer-songwriter James Mercer, whose beautifully crafted melodies and introspective songwriting provided the perfect complement to Weezer’s power-pop energy. Beloved tracks like “Australia,” “Phantom Limb,” “Simple Song,” and “New Slang” reminded the Milwaukee crowd why The Shins remain such an influential force in alternative music. Silversun Pickups kicked off the evening with their signature wall of fuzzy guitars and soaring vocals, delivering favorites like “Panic Switch” and “Lazy Eye.” Together, the three bands brought a healthy dose of nostalgia while proving that the alternative and indie rock sounds of the 2000s still pack plenty of punch.
