John Bell of Widespread Panic
to join Yonder Mountain at Kinfolk Celebration

Last month Jeff Austin (Lead Vocals, Mandolin) announced he would be parting ways with the jamgrass outfit Yonder Mountain String Band. With this announcement came a great deal of disappointment from fans, but fans can now focus their energy on how Austin’s departure presents a wide range of possibilities for guest sit-ins with the group. Lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of Widespread Panic, John Bell, just announced that he will be sitting in with Yonder for this year’s Kinfolk Celebration at Planet Bluegrass in Fort Lyons, CO September 19th and 20th ! The two acts have crossed paths over the years, but this sit-in will certainly be one for the archives.
About Kinfolk Celebration:
Twelve years since the inaugural Kinfolk Celebration danced and smiled its way across the Planet Bluegrass Ranch, Yonder Mountain String Band’s annual celebration of community, camping, and musical mania is returning home to Lyons, CO.
For two glorious September days, we will bask in the waning summer sun, rest our feet next to the St. Vrain River, and take one final summery gasp of mountain air alongside four thousand of our closest Kinfolk.
The hometown boys of Yonder Mountain will headline the main stage each evening with inspired, epic sets (featuring special guests: John Bell of Widespread Panic on Friday; and Jason Carter & Ronnie McCoury on Saturday). Kinfolk will be Yonder’s only Colorado shows of the summer (besides the sold-out Telluride Bluegrass Festival, of course).
Each afternoon close musical kin of Yonder Mountain will create their own musical frenzy including The Travelin’ McCourys, The Milk Carton Kids, Head for the Hills, and The Haunted Windchimes . We will boogie, we will shine, we will share in something unforgettable.
