Jeff Tweedy and The Neighborhood Band Heads 90 Miles North to Milwaukee – Photos and Review

Photos and Review by Stephen Bloch

What could be more ambitious than having a band made up of your 20 something children and their friends?  How about playing two hours worth of music with them that comes from a newly released triple LP.  A couple of weeks back, Jeff Tweedy did just that in Milwaukee at the Historic Pabst Theater.  Tweedy, along with his sons Spencer and Sammy, and their close neighborhood friends Liam Kazar, Sima Cunningham, and Macie Stewart are out touring in support of the current release Twilight Override.  This album is an all out exploration of Wilco’s sounds from their entire career without being a rehash. There is fuzz, alt-country twang, folk, and everything in between on this opus.  When played live, this album is able to breathe, and the young band members are able to strut.  Most of the show was from off of the new album, but there were some Tweedy band cuts as well as a cover of the Violent Femmes, “Good Feeling”.
