Halloween brings out the spooks, ghouls, freaks, and tricks for sure. Milwookie bought out those hobgoblins on Friday night for Daniel Donato’s annual fall extravaganza. Last year the theme was Willy Wonka and had all the treats. This year it was Udder Invasion and featured a nearly three hour show that pitted extraterrestrials against farmers. It was an absolute goofy hullabaloo. It’s not possible for Turner Hall Ballroom to do an expansion for next year’s show as it’s a truly historic venue, but they might want to have a street party in front to accommodate. The show had all the makings of a true barn burner that could have only taken place on Halloween. Donato played his own music sparingly, but pulled out all the stops with covers, including “Fire”, “Brain Damage”, “War Pigs”, “Back in Black”, “Maggie’s Farm”, and Ray Wylie Hubbard’s “Snake Farm” to name a few. Milwaukee should be on everyone’s radar as a vacation destination, especially over Halloween.
