Anoushka Shankar Performs at Hodgson Concert Hall in Athens, GA

On March 20, 2025, renowned sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar, daughter of the late legendary sitar player Ravi Shankar, graced the stage of the University of Georgia’s Hodgson Concert Hall, marking her return to Athens after nearly 25 years. The performance showcased her visionary live show, culminating her recent trilogy of mini-albums: Chapter I: Forever, For Now, Chapter II: How Dark it Is Before Dawn, and Chapter III: We Return to Light. the transient joys of a summer afternoon to the healing embrace of night, ​

Shankar was accompanied by her band—Arun Ghosh on clarinet and keyboards, Tom Farmer on upright bass, and Sarathy Korwar on drums and percussion. The concert was a highlight of the 2025 UGA Humanities Festival, offering the audience an immersive experience that bridged classical Indian music with contemporary innovation.
