David Lowery has accomplished the rare feat of fronting two successful and widely adored bands: Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven. Although varied in sound, the songs of his his entire catalog interweaved beautifully at Decatur, GA’s Eddie’s Attic in an acoustic, bare bones atmosphere.
There was even opportunity for fan interaction, including when the crowd whistled the lead guitar part on Cracker’s “Dr. Bernice”. The vivid imagery and intriguing narratives of Lowery’s lyrics could not have been more appreciated in the intimate, sold-out room. It was a fantastic chance for longtime fans to see some deeper cuts from his career stripped-down.
Lowery even played his self-proclaimed favorite Camper Van Beethoven tune (“Ambiguity Song”) to wrap up the night. Be sure to catch Lowery on the road solo or with Cracker!
