The Black Crowes’ Homecoming Show at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre Proves Sound Has Aged Like Fine Wine – Photos & Review

Off the heels of their fantastic new album, Happiness Bastards, Atlanta’s own The Black Crowes played a top-tier set at the historic Fox Theatre. With another ATL band with a strikingly similar name kicking things off (Black Lips) with some high-energy indie rock, the crowd was primed for the sweet rock ‘n’ roll combo of drums, bass, guitar and vocals.

Singer Chris Robinson and guitarist / singer Rich Robinson‘s vocals blended perfectly in harmony throughout the night, with longtime Crowes bassist Sven Pipien now performing alongside guitarist Nico Bereciartua, drummer Cully Symington, and keys player Erik Deutsch. We are thrilled to see Chris and Rich seeing eye-to-eye and making music together again.

The night featured six tunes from their new album as well as a cover of Velvet Underground’s “White Light/White Heat” and tour debuts of “Gone” and “Nebakanezer”. The songs from the new record sound like they could have been released on Southern Harmony in 1993, and we are thankful that the band has embraced writing new material. We hope that they continue to tour and perform their great catalogue of music to the masses, as their sound has aged like a fine wine and is needed in the TikTok era of music for public consumption now more than ever.
