*edit: This was after game 4z
Despite the Chicago Cubs’ Game 4 loss to the Cleveland Indians on Saturday night, the high fives were still a’flyin and the drinks were a’flowin around Wrigleyville as Chicago celebrates the Cubs’ first World Series at Wrigley Field since October 1945. Some folks kept the party going late. In fact, at some point in the wee hours of the evening, Eddie Vedder and Derek Trucks pulled out a couple of acoustic guitars for a passionate version of The Band’s “The Weight”. Oh yeah, Bill F’n Murray also joined in on the fun and provided some vocals in what may go down as the coolest musical moment ever. “These guys are good! Come on!”, Murray enthusiastically declared after the entire room of lucky Cubs fans showcased their beer-buzzed, wide-ranging vocal styles during the timeless chorus of the tune.
Hey, Cubbies: take a load off in Game 6 tonight. You’ve got some heavy hitters that you can hit the town with afterwards, even if things don’t go well.
