Stage presence, thoughtful messaging, and explosive psychedelic-indie-space-country-rock make Futurebirds a band you do not ever want to miss live. In fact, I’ll be venturing to Richmond, VA tomorrow to catch their set at Dominion River Rock from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m.
We’ve lost a lot of great artists in 2016, David Bowie is certainly one of those. But as the legends die, the music does in fact never die. Today we see members of the Futurebirds paying homage to the third track off “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars” released in 1972 live on KEXP. The song interpretation keeps a strong foundation of the original, but it is 100% clear it carries the signature Futurebirds sound.
I’m an alligator, I’m a mama-papa coming for you
I’m the space invader, I’ll be a rock ‘n’ rollin’ bitch for you
Keep your mouth shut, you’re squawking like a pink monkey bird
And I’m busting up my brains for the words
Keep your ‘lectric eye on me babe
Put your ray gun to my head
Press your space face close to mine, love
Freak out in a moonage daydream oh yeah
Don’t fake it baby, lay the real thing on me
The church of man, love, is such a holy place to be
Make me baby, make me know you really care
Make me jump into the air
Keep your ‘lectric eye on me babe
Put your ray gun to my head
Press your space face close to mine, love
Freak out in a moonage daydream oh yeah
Keep your ‘lectric eye on me babe
Put your ray gun to my head
Press your space face close to mine, love
Freak out in a moonage daydream oh yeah
Keep your ‘lectric eye on me babe
Put your ray gun to my head
Press your space face close to mine, love
Freak out in a moonage daydream oh yeah
Freak out, far out, in out
