Congo Sanchez really embodies a lot of my love for the DC scene all in one band. The group features DC’s Jeff Franca who is well known for his fluidity and natural drumming in Thievery Corporation, MC Flex Mathews (The Handsome Grandson) who can be found sitting in with literally all of our favorite DC artists, and the golden soul and voice of Haile Supreme. The emphasis is on grooves that move the listener and the beautiful vocal accompaniments to all styles Franca creates from his control center (aka a DJ setup with a stand-up drum kit).
