Umphrey’s McGee Announce 25+ Date National Tour
Select Dates with TAUK
Umphrey’s McGee announces the start of 2016 with a 25-plus-date national tour kicking off with a three-night run at the historic Beacon Theatre in NYC, two nights in Asheville for our first arena double-header, and a triumphant return to the Left Coast in March. Instrumental rock-fusion quartet, TAUK, joins us for over 15 performances, as well as our friends The Motet in Asheville, and saxophone virtuoso Joshua Redman on select dates.
2016 marks Umphrey’s 18th year on the road! In our continued effort to push the envelope of heightened fan experiences, our immersive high-end audio offering “Headphones & Snowcones” will be offered during the 2016 tour, alongside umVIP Enhanced Experience programs. Get the full umVIP experience at our triple-headers in New York City and Aspen, as well as our two-night arena stand in Asheville. “Nothing Too Fancy” umVIP ticket upgrades will also be available in Kalamazoo, Richmond, and Sandpoint. Each umVIP program is unique in its offerings, but all of them have the same core principle: we hook it up, so you can GET DOWN. Full details on the umVIP page.
Pre-sale tickets along with the umVIP packages will go on sale Wednesday, October 21st at 10:00 am ET for Leg 1 dates (January 27th thru February 20th), and Wednesday, October 21st at 10:00 am Local time for Leg 2 dates (March 10th thru 26th). Likewise, the public on-sale will occur Friday, October 23rd at 10:00 am EST on the East Coast, and 10:00 am Local time on the West Coast.
Stay tuned for more dates to come, more innovative offerings from Team UM (Couch Tour anyone?), and more opportunities to roll umVIP as we kick off 2016 the best way we know how — with rock hands blazing. -via Umphrey’s Official News Release
TAUK will offer support for a limited number of 2016 dates with Umphrey’s McGee.
The Oyster Bay, New York-based quartet has received accolades from a number of tastemaking authorities, including an “On The Verge” feature in Relix Magazine and frequent rotation for the singles “Mindshift”, “Sweet Revenge”, “Dead Signal” and “In the Basement of the Alamo” on Sirius XM Jam On. Despite their years of experience as a musical unit, the quartet is a young promising band that Jambase calls “a guaranteed quickly-ascend band.” The Washington Post describes the band by saying: “TAUK’s instrumental music melds genres and styles, creating a hard-charging, often melodic fusion that – thanks to a penchant for improv – offers limitless possibilities” and The Deli Magazine singles out the band’s compelling melodic sense through explaining: “the quartet has a rare ability to channel emotional melodic leads, and all without a lead singer.”
TAUK has built a dedicated and loyal fanbase through tireless touring. Festival highlights include Bonnaroo, The Hangout Music Festival, Summer Camp, LOCKN’, Hudson Project, FloydFest, Bear Creek, Art Outside and The Allman Brothers’ Peach Fest. TAUK’s broadly appealing musicality has allowed the band to be direct support to such diverse artists as The Funky Meters, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Papadosio, Lettuce, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, moe., Dopapod, Tim Reynolds & TR3, Toubab Krewe, The Revivalists and many more. – (Official Bio – Continue Reading)
