You may remember the Trongone Band from the show Dead as Funk show we did in Richmond with the group and special guests like members of the DJ Williams Projekt and Keller Williams’ Grateful Gospel.
But let me make one thing clear. While I enjoy hearing the Trongone Band celebrate the legacy of the Dead, they’re a legitimate band in their own right. Their recent song “Anne Marie” showcases the band’s songwriting abilities and southern roots rock flavor.
I think Anne Marie is the best way to describe the direction The Trongone Band is heading —Rock & Roll/Americana – Johnny Trongone
The video was filmed on the patio of the band’s favorite bar/hangout, F.W. Sullivans, in their hometown of Richmond, Virginia. The stripped down acoustic concept gives listeners a candid and honest look at the band. “Anne Marie” lends itself to the treasured sounds of the past and is marinated in Southern Rock and Americana sauce.
Special thanks to Jake, Hayden, & the rest of the staff for letting the band use the patio.
