Atlanta Venue Smith’s Olde Bar is Up for Sale

If you are from the Southeast and enjoy live music there’s a good chance you’re familiar with Smith’s Olde Bar. The building which sits at “the apex of Piedmont and Monroe “in Atlanta has been family owned for 90 years. There is a now a “call for offers” on the property. Unfortunately this means another small venue will no longer serve as a place for touring musicians to develop.

The Music Room at Smith’s Olde Bar has hosted for the last 20+ years the likes of Widespread Panic, Kings Of Leon, My Morning Jacket, John Mayer, B.o.B, and thousands more. This 300-capacity room is “the best sounding room [Col. Bruce Hampton] has ever played”.

We should take note and continue to support small venues that are a driving force of the live music community’s longevity.
