Warren Haynes feat. Railroad Earth ANNOUNCE CONCERT at Burlington’s Waterfront Park on Aug. 9th!

By John Mikeska

Warren Haynes featuring Railroad Earth will perform on Sunday, August 9th as the fourth and final act of the Lake Champlain Maritime Festival! Tickets go on sale this Friday, May 29th at Noon.

It’s hard to imagine where the man who spent 25 years with the Allman Brothers, toured with the Dead, and started one of the seminal jam-band acts in Gov’t Mule would go when considering the next direction. The fact that Haynes chose to honor his most personal influences and the roots of true Americana shows a marked interest in continuing the tradition in authentic fashion.

I’ve been writing songs all my life from a more folky, singer-songwriter, even Celtic direction,” Warren says. “For a while, I’ve been compiling songs that didn’t necessarily fit in with Gov’t Mule or the Allman Brothers or even my last solo album. So this record was really a chance to bring a lot of that music to fruition.”

Naturally, when Haynes decided to take this approach on his upcoming solo-album Ashes and Dust, the New Jersey based Americana band, Railroad Earth, was an obvious choice. Warren went on to say “I have a cool chemistry with those guys—they add their own personality to the songs, but they’re really great at interpreting, as well”.

Ashes and Dust came together as the collaboration explored the range of Warren’s influences and the depth of their collective (and apparently endless) creativity.

While still being composed of the salt-and-earth that pumps through the veins of the American spirit, this project provides an exciting backdrop for both musical entities to explore and grow their own capabilities through a mutual desire to expand on traditions and create something unique and original.

Also, don’t forget, Twiddle will be performing on August 7th and moe. will be performing on August 8th at the same festival. This has become quite the weekend in little old Burlington.
