The Heavy Pets hold a special place in our heart at LiveMusicDaily. Ever since their 2007 Langerado set I’ve been hooked and quickly ordered a copy of “Whale” in the mail. The band was nice enough to write a a signed thank you note on the back of a flyer to accompany the shipment. These guys have come a long way over the past few years. Catching them at the Boom Boom Room in San Francisco last night to kick off their tour was a really special treat. The Heavy Pets announce the themes for their four-night headlining stand at Dunedin Brewery’s Spring Beer Jam taking place March 26-29, 2015. The band will present reinterpretations of popular Pets tunes to fit the themes as well as first-time-played covers and originals each night with no repeats throughout the week. The Pets will play a reggae rooted set for the “Kinky Reggae Party” on Thursday night, and fans should show off their kinky sides to the island vibes.Friday will rock for all the “Dunedin Rock City” rockers out there…are you ready to ROCK? On Saturday, the Pets will launch fans into orbit with their funky dance grooves for “Space Disco.” And Sunday will find THP performing, for the very first time in its entirety, their seminal double disc album, Whale, over two sets.

In addition to the five Pets sets, you will also have a chance to experience their expansive side-project line-up including Lather Up! (Saturday), Fat Mannequin (Friday), Spontaneous Underground (Friday) and DuBBle James (Sunday) as well as a DJ Tony D (Saturday) set across the way at 7eventh Sun Brewery. But this is not just a Heavy Pets party! The Florida jam kings will play alongside fusion powerhouse The Fritz on Thursday; NOLA’s Naughty Professor on Friday; The Nth Power and Miami soul act Ketchy Shuby on Saturday; and Tampa’s own Displace on Sunday.
