Winter sucks, Mondays suck… We are here to help.

Here is our first installation of a weekly playlist to keep you rocking from workweek to weekend. Here are 7 songs, one for each day of the week  of course. The mixes will include new tracks, overlooked gems, and old classics. This particular mix includes a large variety of music from underground hip-hop to jam to reggae.

1. Phoniks – Awon & Dephlow – “The War Room” ft. Tiff The Gift (Phoniks Remix)
Phoniks is one of the best producers in the game offering beats reminiscent of early 90s era of hip-hop. Awon & Dephlow spit sermons left and right showing a clear dominance over the overwhelming majority of mainstream hip-hop.

2.Sumilan – Shiska
Sumilan is one of the best progressive electronic rock bands that the world has yet to fully discover. “Shiska” is a great introduction to the group’s sound. Their new album is due out in the Spring, we will have the updates for you on this, stay tuned.

3.Reptar- Sebastian
Reptar is an outstanding live act with a great deal of potential. Here is one of their first big party anthems.

4. Big Sam’s Funky Nation – Shake Yo Thang
The song starts with some filthy slap bass in your face and the rest is a funk party George Clinton would surely love to attend. I hate to point out timelines, but at 1:52 you’ll be punished to cause of death… funk overload.

5. Papadosio – Curve (4.19.2013 – Washington, DC – 9:30 Club)
A stellar version of Dosio unleashing their fury on DC.

6. The Pharcyde – Runnin (Bit Funk Remix)
The first mix couldn’t be complete without a nod to the greats of old school hip-hop. Bit funk takes a funky approach to a rework of Pharcyde’s classic “Runnin”

7. Slightly Stoopid – Just Thinking (featuring Chali 2na)
Some of you may only know Stoopid from your high school daze. However, the band’s latest album Top of the World is an outstanding album. Here are some laid back vibes from Slightly Stoopid featuring Chali 2na of Jurassic 5 on vocals.
