Umphrey’s McGee & STS9 Cover “Let’s Dance”

Covering a David Bowie song is easy. However, giving a proper showing to an infectious new-wave tune like “Let’s Dance” takes a certain panache. Fortunately, for UM and STS9, this is certainly not a problem, they’ve got the verve.

More often than not, the difference between a good show and a great show is the energy on stage, and these guys are clearly having a good time up there. They come in hot early, settle into a funky groove, and take turns showing off their considerable musical talent, until Jake Cinniger finally has enough of David Bowie and decides to tear this dance-pop gem to shreds with his righteous axe, which of course, brings the house down, and is a fitting end to a show that I now plan to watch from the beginning..
