The Nth Power

Just last night The Nth Power kicked off a 6 night run with the New Mastersounds in Seattle. The group is going in full force now, and recently, drummer Nikki Glaspie parted ways with the New Orleans supergroup, Dumpstaphunk, to pursue The Nth Power full time. There was a simple understanding as to Nikki wanting to take more time with the Nth Power. Dumpstaphunk’s new drummer, Nick Daniels, is a stellar NOLA vet who has a strong history with Dumpstaphunk’s Tony Hall. The live music community is now left with two exceptional groups exuding a tradition of funk, jazz, and soul.

The Nth Power… Goodness, where do I start? This band embodies every facet of music that I love.

Funk and blues music, which is feel-based playing as opposed to technical playing, will always be the most expressive means of musical communication in my opinion. The Nth Power has a unique grasp of feel-based playing but still offers the technicality of a progressive jazz infused rock band. However, the supergroup is not just jazz and funk. They take an emphasis of the soul to new heights. Simply put, The Nth Power delivers music in its finest form of communication.
