The Shack Band

unnamed

By John David Church

In the haystack that is the multitude of bands playing these days, it seems prudent to reflect on the rarity of hard work and dedication to the art of music shown by The Shack Band.  From their humble beginnings at Virginia Tech, the band now calls Richmond their home.  And it should be no big surprise when what some call the cultural capital of Virginia all turned out to support the band at their CD Release Party last Friday night.  The band’s second studio album, “America,” was dropped to a sold out crowd at The Broadberry.

Personally, I’ve been seeing these guys for the better part of 3 years now and could not be any prouder of them.  Their tunes find themselves stuck in my head more often than not and their live shows have never let me down, from a street side bar in Bethesda, MD to a sold out show at The National in Richmond.  Give ’em a listen then get out to a show because as the band will tell you, we’ve got work to do.
