WASHINGTON, DC (Aug. 5, 2014) – Metalheadz artists Doc Scott and Bailey will be performing DJ sets with support from 2Tuff’s MC T.R.A.C. and DJ Slant on Sunday, Aug. 17 at U Street Music Hall. DC-based electronic music promoters 2Tuff Productions are collaborating with legendary record label Metalheadz to commemorate 20 years of shaping dance music culture on both sides of the pond.
In 1994, Doc Scott co-founded Metalheadz with the world-famous artist/musician/actor Goldie. The groundbreaking imprint is celebrating its 20-year anniversary in 2014 with special events across the globe. The Metalheadz DC event at U Street Music Hall will be part of the anniversary’s celebratory tour.
Also in 1994, DC’s 2Tuff Productions began promoting drum & bass music in the nation’s capital. 2Tuff has since curated a thriving underground music scene and culture by producing and promoting concerts, electronic music events, and hosting tours of national and international acts including Metalheadz artists.
A true veteran and D&B pioneer, Doc Scott continues to be an influential figure in the scene with his own 31 Recordings label and his international DJ tours. As a producer, he has released some of the genre’s most groundbreaking and seminal tracks including “Shadow Boxing”, “Here Comes the Drumz”, and “The Unofficial Ghost.”
Bailey is a presenter at Ministry of Sound Radio, a former multi-award winning presenter for BBC Radio 1Xtra and BBC Radio 1, and a resident DJ for Metalheadz. Bailey’s prowess as a premier Drum & Bass artist has earned him global respect. He communicates his musical passion to the masses as a DJ, radio host, and music producer.
2Tuff resident MC T.R.A.C. of New York City will perform as master of ceremonies, and 2Tuff co-founder Slant will provide supporting DJ duties. 2Tuff has tapped several local businesses as event sponsors to help make this event special: local brewers DC Brau will be on hand to provide an exclusive beer special; Live Music Daily is planning articles and interviews around the show; hip hop dance collective Urban Artistry will be showcasing their moves on the dance floor; and Gorilla Fist Clothiers will be selling limited-edition clothing and art.
