In a scene where “music videos” are mainly YouTube clips of a live performance, in-store, or shaky 30-second clip from a smartphone, I’m always interested and wary to see professionally shot music videos for jamband studio releases. With said curiosity, I was excited to check out the video for moe.’s “Blond Hair and Blue Eyes,” from their 2014 release, “No Guts, No Glory.” As a longtime moe.ron, I’d given the album several rotations, forming my own opinions as to the inspiration of each track.
In the case of BHBE, I pictured your stereotypical “hot chick” using her looks to get what she wants and the silly gent she had catering to her every whim.
Boy, was I wrong, as this video takes us on an adventure with a 9-year-old girl acting as ringleader and shotcaller to the 5 boys from New York! We go from a video game session right to what I perceive as the guys acting as a hit squad for our 4-foot-tall mafia don. A light-hearted adventure poking fun at bullying, culminating with a garage band coup d’etat, perfectly reflects the attitude of this fun-loving band and, in my opinion, is a great step into the murky waters of “jamband” music videos for studio releases!

Check out what JAY BLAKESBERG had to say about the directing the music video:
I am thrilled to share the new video I Directed for the band moe.
This is the single for their new cd – No Gut’s, No Glory. The song is called Blond Hair, Blue Eyes and is the story of a 10 year old girl and her gang! We shot this at the end of April just outside Portland Maine. Special thanks to my DP and editor Myles Beeson.
Enjoy!
