Artist of the Month
Every once in a while there is an act that I come across that really blows my mind. Not too long ago I stumbled across a rising DJ hailing from Burlington, VT. Cory Wythe is an outstanding electronic hip-hop soul producer who has tackled some rather aggressive remix choices. Wythe chose to come out guns a blazin’ with remixes of some of the most epic songs in history such as the Who’s “Eminence Front” off the 1982 album It’s Hard. I often cringe at the thought of epic classic rock being remixed, but there’s two primary exceptions, Lance Herbstrong and now Marvel Years. It takes a great deal of skill to remix “Gimme Shelter” by the Rolling Stones as it is a staple of the classic rock era, the introduction of the song is probably the best of all time. Marvel Years is a mix of only the best with a sound that can be best described as Pretty Lights meets Grizmatk (Griz & Gramatik) meets D.V.S*, but he maintains his own unique sound that will continue to evolve into something of a phenomena in the near future.
