DC is in for a real Winter holiday treat this Saturday featuring a triple threat line-up of some of the cities best musicians for the Winter Soulstice. DC reggae all-stars, Nappy Riddem, have been making waves on the reggae scene with their impeccable reggae craftsmanship on their new ‘Rock Steady’ EP. The EP features the soulful vocals and intricate song writing talents of Mustafa Akbar which are complimented by Jon Modell’s percussive stylings holding down the bottom end. Rex Riddem’s vocal lendings and harmonizing guitar lines blend perfectly to create a nappy sound that keeps the reggae vibes flowing. This effort has not gone unnoticed with Junior Marvin of Bob Marley & The Wailers as a familiar face on stage with the band in the past year. In fact, Nappy Riddem & Junior Marvin just had a photo shoot today with John Shore in anticipation for 2014 tour dates that will see the two talents sharing the stage in venues across the country. Additionally, the group will be opening for English Beat tonight and has recently opened for reggae legend Lee “Scratch” Perry.

Also on the bill is the Empresarios who have released two albums this year: “El Sonido Magico” in January and “El Sonido Magico Remixed” in June. They are finishing a new album for 2014 so get a preview of what is to come at the Winter Soulstice!
