NYE Countdown
New Years Eve, Halloween, and summer festival season are all understood as special times of the year for live music fans. Special guest sit-ins, cover songs, and extra sets of music are a norm during these times. Sure there are special treats that happen throughout the year, but we have come to expect nothing less than EPIC performances on New Years Eve. Whether you are attending a one-night stand, a festival, or a 4 night run, you’ll be ringing in the New Year the right way. Over the course of the next month we will bring you a countdown to the best NYE concerts in the country, we begin our coverage with Umphrey’s McGee.
The progressive-jam-rockers will close out their 15th year of face-melting with a three-night run Fillmore in Denver, CO (Dec.28,29, & 31) along with an already sold-out a show for Dec. 30th in Denver at a TBA venue. The first night at the Fillmore will kick-off with Nashville based electronic-pop-rock duo Cherub performing an opening set . The following night fans will get some dirty slap-bass-in-your-face funk from none other than Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk.
Special guest Joshua Redman will be joining Umphrey’s McGee on saxaphone for Dec. 28th show. Today we revisit a UMCast from August 2006 compiled featuring Redman sitting in with the band. The podcast can be downloaded via the official UM site (Right-click Here) or by subscribing to UM Podcasts through the iTunes Music Store.
Tickets for the Fillmore concerts are still available for purchase via LiveNation (HERE).
