Perpetual Groove
Gives Fans a Slight Hint at Reunification

By Randy Harris
Fans and media outlets, including Jambase, have begun to notice hints from the former Georgia jam band Perpetual Groove. The band, also known as “PGroove,” was formed in 1997 in Savannah, Georgia, blending southern rock, funk and jazz to form a unique, improvisational sound, which built them a devoted fan following. To the dismay of fans, Perpetual Groove announced an indefinite hiatus in early 2013, as lead guitarist Brock Butler took off on a solo mission to get healthy, while the remaining three members toured under the new guise of Ghost Owl.
PGroove’s old logo consists of 4 symmetrical sections. Not only was the image of that logo shared on Perpetual Groove’s Instagram account (the first activity on the account since April 2013) with one of the four former members in each of the 4 sections, but each former member has updated his personal Facebook profile photo as his own respective quadrant of this new image of the retro logo.
It is also curious that there has been quite a lot of activity on Perpetual Groove’s band Facebook page lately. After the band’s final show on April 5, 2013, the page continued to post on occasion (once every month or two), but 2014 saw even less activity. After June 11, 2014, the Facebook page was inactive for the rest of the year. On January 13, 2015, however, the page changed its cover photo to a picture from the PGroove’s final gig, and since then, there has been quite a lot of activity.
Putting all of these pieces together seems to suggest that a reunion might be in store! Keep your eyes and ears open, and we can only wait and see what happens.
