This was a week of firsts for singer-songwriter Mary Kutter. She began the recording of her first album and headlined her first show – a sold-out Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA on a Friday evening.

Rising from a childhood on a farm near Bardstown, Kentucky, Kutter has steadily built a dual reputation as both a performer and prolific songwriter. She launched her career by hosting a weekly TV and radio variety show in Kentucky before making regular trips to Nashville where she co-founded the popular writers night “OMG! I’m A Songwriter”.

Kutter’s songwriting credentials are impressive: she has more than 60 songs recorded by other artists that have collectively amassed over 100 million streams. Her own releases – such as the narrative rich single “Devils Money” inspired by family history – have earned praise for blending modern country-pop with storytelling rooted in Appalachian lore.

At Eddie’s Attic, that songwriting pedigree translated into a full-circle moment, Mary Kutter and her band performed at her first headlining show featuring a setlist of 19 songs including hits, “The Devil Wore a Lab Coat”, “Smell The Smoke” and the previously mentioned “Devils Money”. The sold out show with a very exuberant crowd of fans, affirmed her rise not only as a behind the scenes hitmaker but as a captivating artist in her own right.
