Tedeschi Trucks Band and Vincent Neil Emerson Bring Joy to Milwaukee – Photos and Recap

Photos and Review by Stephen Bloch

While Milwaukee’s Summerfest came to a close two weekends ago, the Henry Meier Festival grounds are still is abuzz with concert activity.  On Thursday night the soulful rhythm and rock icons, Tedeschi Trucks Band made a very welcomed stop.  The band’s full sound comes from 12 very talented folk, but the real attraction is the husband and wife duo of Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi.  There is no debating that they are virtuosos with the guitar (and Susan with her voice as well).  They always vary their setlists and include many covers.  Last night’s show drew heavily from their 2022 release I Am the Moon, but even more emphasis was on covers.  Highlights were the “The Letter” (The Box Tops), “Dreams” (The Allman Brothers), and The Rolling Stones cut “Heartbreaker”. Jeff Beck’s “Beck’s Bolero” closed out the main set before a two song encore.

The opener was Texas songwriter Vincent Neil Emerson who played a dynamic country leaning set that certainly brought in new fans who were unfamiliar.
