Sure, pop country is alive and worse than ever, but Sturgill Simpson’s is letting fans know that isn’t the way the genre “has” to be.  Sturgill has defeated the Nashville establishment, the music speaks for itself. The song crafting, the layers, his voice, the top-shelf lyrical messaging sets him apart from the pack. Legitimately can say he’s one the best songwriter troubadours around in this day and age.
