Charleston, SC – Gearing up for a 2016 Winter Tour, award-winning Charleston rock band, Dead 27s, are putting the finishing touches on their debut album helmed by Grammy Nominated Producer, Ben Ellman. The 27s spent the latter half of November at The Living Room Studios in Ellman’s hometown of New Orleans with Brian Coogan of Pretty Lights on keys and vintage gear lent by Ani Difranco. Ellman, who’s best known for his role as Saxophonist for NOLA based Galactic, has been racking up production accolades over the past five years, most notably a Grammy nomination for his work on Trombone Shorty’s 2010 Album, Backatown. He has recently been gaining praise for his production work with The Revivalists, Ryan Montbleau and co-production efforts on Galactic’s latest release Into the Deep. The album will capture the evolving Dead 27s sound, reminiscent of powerful rock songs mixed with contemporary dance/pop energy and a twist of 70’s funk & soul. Think Soundgarden hanging with White Denim and Curtis Mayfield.

Dead 27s Accolades

In a city known for authenticity, Charleston’s Dead 27s have made their presence known. Voted The Charleston City Paper Music Awards Rock Band of the Year for two years running, the band walked out of the 2014 ceremony with more awards than any band in the event’s history including Rock Band of the Year, Album of the Year for their debut EP Chase Your Devils Down, Song of the Year for “Don’t Comfort Me” and Bassist/Drummer/Guitarist of the Year for band members Oliver Goldstein, Daniel Crider and Wallace Mullinax respectively. And that’s not even mentioning the 4 awards they won in 2013 before their first EP release! Dead 27s have played shows in support of many great artists including Taj Mahal and Chris Robinson and lent their support to The Revivalists, Galactic and Lauryn Hill through the Fall and Winter of 2015.
