If you’re looking for some music to guide your night and you enjoy the Adams Morgan neighborhood definitely head down to Mellow Mushroom to celebrate with Nappy Riddem, one of DC’s finest reggae talents.This past year they’ve opened for reggae legends like the UK based Steel Pulse and Julian “Junior” Marvin of Bob Marley & the Wailers.The group focuses on the messaging in their lyrics, which is accompanied by the fine musicianship of the band, giving fans high energy live performances.
2015 has truly been amazing for Nappy Riddem, sharing stages with so many legends and great acts like Steel Pulse , Junior Marvin, the Original Wailers … Also sharing new music and playing so many new venues and cities. It’s been a hard heart felt struggle as well but along with the sunshine you’ll get a little rain sometime. Some of that rain was losing our good friend and brother JonH . As we all know you need rain and sunshine to grow good fruit, so that’s exactly what we have in-store for 2016 , growing good musical fruit. I’m really looking forward to to this show tomorrow night at Mellow Mushroom because they say you’ll spend the year the way you bring it in, so we will be making a joyful noise funking out Nappy Riddem style for NYE here at home in DC. 2015 was a great year and a sad year. Nappy Riddem accomplished a lot of goals we set out for. The loss of JonH from The Fort Knox Five, was tragic and unexpected. The bright spot is that he reminded a lot of us in the DC music community, and the global independent music scene, how much we truly inspire eachother.
