Exclusive Premiere: Watch Roosevelt Collier Sit-In With Displace at the Official Umphrey’s McGee After Party in St.Petersburg

NYE Displace Snapzalot

Many of you may already know we are all about Florida’s progressive-funk-jam rockers, Displace. The group has cemented a solid Florida following while building an extended fan base throughout the Southeast.

Following two scorching sets from Umphrey’s McGee at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg, FL fans poured into the connecting Ringside Cafe for the official UM after-party featuring Roosevelt Collier.

Atlanta based funk outfit Voodoo Visionary kicked things off as the crowd filled in following Umphreys. They laid down a great set featuring sit ins from Roosevelt which got the already amped up crowd chomping at the bit for Displace.

Fortunately, Displace’s late night magic was filmed and edited by David Guidi. These are by far the best videos available  of Displace to date. They do a great job of serving this hard-working band justice. Specifically, they convey their individual mastery of each instrument as well as their cohesive chemistry together that is grounded in progressive rock.

“Valerie” is obviously made famous by Amy Winehouse, but was originally by The Zutons. This version is extra bluesy with Roosevelt on steel guitar.

A signature Displace original, “Geonosis Shuffle”, is more jamtronic with apparent Lotus and STS9 influences.

“Generation: Sloan” is the lead track on Displace’s first album and this version is one of the best ever played. Roosie comes in with about 4 minutes into the song.

Displace isn’t just a band to go “check out”, they should be on your “must see” concert list.

“It was inspiring, playful, and deeply conversational. Like meeting someone new but speaking as if you’re old friends.” Sam Dobkin Displace – Guitarist
